WORKS/ Apartment at Kim Tian Place
Located within one of Singapore’s mature neighbourhoods, this 1,447-square-foot, five-room HDB flat at Kim Tian Place has been gently reworked for a young couple in the fields of IT and engineering, along with their newborn child. The home reflects their way of life, balancing functionality with quiet character.
The interiors embrace an industrial aesthetic, softened by subtle references to old-world Singapore. Vintage mosaic tiles line the kitchen floor, offering a familiar charm amidst raw finishes and clean lines. Spaces for work and rest are clearly defined yet remain connected. Separate home offices cater to the couple’s individual routines, creating zones of focus within the open plan.
Daily rituals are supported by carefully considered interventions. A dry kitchen was introduced to accommodate light cooking and preparation, while the main bathroom was expanded to bring in natural light and cross ventilation, transforming it into a brighter, more uplifting space.
Throughout the home, partitions are kept low and circulation paths clear, allowing light and air to flow effortlessly across the rooms. The result is a home that feels grounded and open, practical yet quietly personal, evolving alongside the rhythms of their growing family.
